Pete Wixom

Board Member - Treasurer

My father is a US Army veteran who served in Korea, and who later in life required end-of-life care from my brother and me, as did my mother, so I have had some experience with caregiving.  It is an incredibly hard role to care for those we love, and my heart goes out to all those who are or have been caregivers.

I grew up in Northern Virginia near the Pentagon during the Vietnam war, where most of our neighbors were active duty military.  After that, I graduated from the University of Virginia, and then spent ten years working in Raleigh, where many of my co-workers were former military.  I have spent the last ten years working in cybersecurity, again with many former military as co-workers.  The time that I have spent in the presence of these military men and women has left me with a profound respect for the sacrifices that they and their families made on my behalf, and for the integrity, professionalism, and dedication that each has shown, without exception.

My wife, son, and I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I began volunteering at the VFW and soon learned about WACU.  I was privileged and honored beyond words to be nominated for and approved as WACU Treasurer, where I am so lucky to serve with the most incredible people as we strive to support warriors and their caregivers.
